The Sacrifice You Were Willing To Make

The Sacrifice You Were Willing To Make

Your child decides to run out into the street as a large truck comes racing down the road. What split-second decision will you make? Will you run out into the road to try to save your child, even if it means being hit by the truck? Likewise, did you decide to take the hit of an emotional truck for the sake of your child? I had a client who suffered a huge medical disability after a bout with a potentially terminal illness. She was in despair asking God, “Why me?” A vision from the premortal realm opened up and she saw all of her loved ones with her. The disability came forward and said, “Someone here needs to experience me for the good of all.” She saw herself looking around at those she loved and could not imagine having any of them experiencing this pain. Without hesitation she raised her hand and said, “I’ll take it.” What hardship, trial or abuse did you agree to take on as an act of love? What sacrifice were you willing to make? And, can you praise God that you acted as a proxy savior in suffering for someone else’s sake so that you may stand with the Lamb on Mt. Zion? May you consecrate your history of suffering and sacrifice that it may redeemed through the Atonement of our Lord.
